A Studio-Safe Workflow: Working With Resin Without the Guesswork
"Non-toxic" describes the formulation, not the workflow around it. A studio-safe routine is still worth building — here's the one we recommend.
Ventilation is non-negotiable, even with non-toxic resin
Even a formulation with no listed hazardous components benefits from airflow during cure. We recommend a minimum of one full air exchange per hour in any space where resin is poured regularly, and a dedicated pour station near a window or extraction fan if you're running production volume.
Storage that actually protects the resin
- Keep bottles capped tightly between uses — this protects clarity as much as it protects you
- Store away from direct sunlight and temperature swings above roughly 30°C
- Nitrile gloves, not latex — resin degrades latex faster than you'd expect
Cleanup that doesn't waste material
Uncured resin cleans up with isopropyl alcohol on tools and surfaces. Cured resin doesn't clean up — it has to be mechanically removed. The practical implication: wipe tools between pours rather than letting resin cure on them, and you'll spend a lot less time scraping and a lot more time casting.
Scaling this up for a production floor
Everything above still applies at volume, with one addition: log your ventilation and bottle-storage checks the same way you'd log any other studio safety routine. It's a five-minute habit that prevents the kind of slow clarity degradation that's hard to trace back to a cause once it shows up in a finished piece.
